How to Make 'Nagaimo Butter Slices'

Nagaimo 'Chinese Yam' Butter Slices

Vegetables and butter are a match made in heaven, especially with soy sauce and a dash of sugar. You need to try these yourself cause you won't believe these are still healthy for you! Honestly, anything soy sauce and butter flavored taste great. When in doubt, go with just soy sauce, butter, and a dash of sugar and you won't go wrong.



  • Peeler (or knife to peel)
  • Knife
  • Pan


  • Nagaimo 'Chinese Yam' - 1 Yam
  • Garlic Clove - 1 Clove
  • Soy Sauce - 2 Tablespoons
  • Cooking Alcohol - 1 Tablespoon
  • Sugar - 2 Teaspoons
  • Butter - About 1 Teaspoon or to taste
  • Salt and Pepper - 1 Tablespoon
  • Spring Onions - To Taste
  • Seaweed (Nori) Flakes - To Taste


Cooking Instructions

1.Peel the yam and finely chop the garlic.

2. Cut the potato into 2cm slices and sprinkle each side of all the slices with salt and pepper. Let sit to absorb.

3. Add butter to the pan and cook the garlic.

4. When the garlic gives off aroma, add the potato slices and cook both sides.

5. When both sides are darkened, add the soy sauce, cooking alcohol, and sugar to the pan and mix around.

6. When everything becomes a nice, golden brown color, top with spring onions (or small, sliced seaweed flakes) and done!
